Penang State MIC Assistant Secretary, S. Ramalingam has chided Prof. Ramasamy over his disapproval of the the Penang Nattukottai Chettiat Temple to roll out the Silver Chariot, a 164 year old tradition on the eve of Thaipusam 2021 with the approval of the National Security Council (NSC) earlier today.
Upon thanking MIC Deputy President and Human Resource Minister, YB Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, whom with the support of MIC’s President, Tan Sri Vigneswaran Sanasee whom made all arrangements required for the procession to go on with the support of the NSC and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), S. Ramalingam battered the Penang DCM over his baseless attacks for his own political survival.
“Ramasamy must learn to distinct the differences between a celebration and a ritual. The chariot procession that took place last night was not a celebration but merely a ritual. A ritual that has been carried out over the past 164 years without failure even in the days of World Wars, Communist Insurgency and the 1969 Racial Riots.” said Ramalingam.
He has also asked Prof Ramasamy to refer to various videos and photographs of last night’s procession if the procession adhered to the SOP. He went on to suggest the DCM to look into the incidents in the Penang Industrial Zone.
S. Ramalingam further took to task the introduction of E-Archanai. “Years after years even with millions worth of allocations from the State Government, the PHEB still has to resort to charging devotees through “Online Archanai” for Thaipusam this year. Question yourself first, Ramasamy before questioning others.”
