KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 29: Upon being presented on a full autopsy presentation on A. Ganapathy’s by Institut Perubatan Forensik Negara, lawyer Datuk K. Ganesh believes that he has a very strong case on A. Ganapathy’s death.
The lawyer alongside Dr. Kamalanathan Sappani and social activist Funky Shankar attended the autopsy presentation that lasted for almost 3 hours.
Forty-year-old A Ganapathy was arrested on Feb 24 to facilitate investigation into a sibling who was wanted by the police. He was released on March 8 but was admitted to Selayang Hospital’s intensive care unit.
His 60-year-old mother S Thanaletchumy said her son told her that police had beaten him with a rubber hose. While at the hospital, Ganapathy was confirmed to have kidney problems and his legs had to be amputated.
His family claimed Ganapathy’s health deteriorated because of his stint in police custody, resulting in his leg being swollen and bruised as though he had been beaten. Ganapathy subsequently passed away on 20th April.
Dr. Kamalanathan on the other hand has said that there were infection and the deceased did have diabetes which would have aggravated his condition. Both the lawyer and doctor refused to comment further.
Social activist, Funky Shanker has said that he will continue fighting to bring justice for A. Ganapathy. The mother and sibling of A. Ganapathy were unbale to join him due to the distress faced while going through the autopsy presentation.
